Aug 24 2013 2:00PM (Open to public) How to generate profits in trending market and when to stay away from false signals
Note: This event is organized by Lim & Tan Securities Pte Ltd. This is a series of educational seminar to train the public on how to use technical analysis to generate profits out from the market. This strategy is specifically for stocks trading/investing.
Jonathan Tan will hold the next free seminar to share his insights into how to generate profits in trending market and when to stay away from false signals.
In the previous session, we learned how to pick the bottom and top of the market and stocks using candlesticks. However in a trending market, most of the time it stays in the trend either uptrend or downtrend. If we had missed entering the market, where else can we be on lookout to re-enter the market to ride on with the trend? Join me in this second session where I will share with you using a very simple but effective strategy on how to ride the trend. This is especially useful for those that don’t have much time to be looking at the market everyday but yet able to ride the trending market and generate profits out from it. In addition, it will also prevent you from entering on false signals.

With a lot of India news affecting the market…
Lately there has been a lot of news about India tightening too much and then loosening a little bit of money liquidity. Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has a head and shoulder or it can also be a triple top. Either way, the support has been broken and the potential downside is possible. If one is looking at head and shoulder, the potential downside has a possible to reach as it is also a classical support. Therefore be cautious on long position and set a trailing stop.

After a wild Options expiration week where the whole market in US just tumbled lower, next week all eyes wwill be watching FOMC meeting and Jackson Hole. The whole fear on QE3 slowing down is back again. However the US market bearishness have not affected Hang Seng and Straits Times much yet. Is this the calm before the main storm or since Asia already corrected, it is time for Asia o pull the world higher? Which stocks are the pocket of strength when a lot of counters have already formed the high?

So far there is no Raya and NDP rally. There are several dark clouds looming in the horizon. Breakouts in US and Hang Seng, including Straits Times has failed or in the verge of failing. A lot of warning signals are being seen throughout the chart potentially telling the investors to be extremely cautious. And this is where a lot of traders will be salivating. Just like a lioness waiting by the bush looking for its prey (lion don’t hunt). How will that affect banks such as DBS, OCBC and UOB which has been pulling Straits Times higher?

After a volatile week with FOMC and Non-Farm Payroll report, market is having a breather as this week hopefully should be a quiet week with holidays coming up. But with market still moving in the rest of the world, all traders/investors would need to set a trailing stop for just in case of any bad news. Dow has successfully broke higher from May 22nd resistance. Now the question is, will there be a Raya and NDP combo rally? And will the blue chips pull the market higher?

Bulls are fighting really hard to stay ahead and bears could be potentially lurking around the corner. Will this week spark a catalyst to tilt one of them to be the winning side? Can Dow break the resistance or this resistance could potentially forms a double top? Hang Seng and Straits Times could already gives a signal on market direction. How will that affects DBS, OCBC, UOB and SGX? And will the blue chips pull the market higher?

AUDUSD (On Request) – Bullish divergence seen but…
AUDUSD weekly chart is currently resting about fibonacci 38%:

And with AUDUSD daily chart also displaying a MACD histogram bullish divergence:

It has yet to have a confirmation to go higher and today just drifted lower throughout the day created an ugly black daily candle. Until we have a confirmation to clear higher which is higher than 0.93045, or else it is a wait and see. If it closes below 0.9000, then there is a high chance the MACD histogram bullish divergence is not in play yet.

It has been a quiet Options expiration week and Dow Jones just drifted higher. Hang Seng just stayed within a range and Straits Times trading range is about 50 points for the entire week. This is really summer doldrums. Or could it be just the calm before the storms? A lot of stocks in SGX just in holding position awaiting signals. Would the next signal be bullish or bearish? What could the spark be, good news or bad? What can happen to Singapore stocks this week?
